Grundy Hygiene International was founded in June 2016 by Mawuli Adonu with technical expertise from Edmond Kojo Sam, with a vision to improve hygiene standards across Ghana. We began operations as importers of high-quality hygiene and cleaning products, sourcing from trusted manufacturers in UK, UAE, South Africa and China to meet the growing demand in homes, offices, hospitals, and hotels.
Growth Through Imports 2016 - 2020
During this phase, we built a strong distribution network across Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi. Our imported range of laundry, Housekeeping, Kitchen and common area products became trusted by households and institutions for effectiveness and reliability. This period taught us what Ghanaian customers truly needed: products that work in our climate, at prices they can afford.
The Shift to Local Production
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the risk of over-reliance on imports. With global supply chains disrupted, driven by rising demand, import challenges, and our commitment to job creation, we made the strategic decision to establish our own manufacturing plant in Accra; Light Industrial Area. The goal: take the quality standards we imported and produce them locally, “Made in Ghana for Ghanaians”.
Subsequently we invested GH₵2.5M to set up our production plant in Spintex Road, and also rebranded to GRUNDYCHEM LTD. We transferred technology, trained local chemists, and launched “Made in Ghana” production of our top 10 products under the brand name IMPACT labels.

2025 - Present: Manufacturing Excellence
Our FDA, GSA and EPA certified facility now produces over 50,000 bottles monthly. We maintain strict quality control and are certified by FDA/GSA. Local production has allowed us to
reduce costs by 30% and make products more affordable and ensure consistent supply without import delays, create about 60+ direct jobs and indirect jobs, reduced our carbon footprint by cutting imports, and reinvest profits into R&D for new eco-friendly formulas suited for Ghana’s water + weather.
